I haven't done a very good job of updating this thing, have I? It has been a month since my last update, and even then, I think I only updated three or four times total all month last month. Rather than try to crank out entries for every single thing that has happened over the past month, I suppose I'll just do a "monthly recap." I'm sure that will be easier on all of us....if anyone is still reading this thing at this point.
Wedding Updates
- bought the dress, and still absolutely love it a month later
- attempted to print out my own save-the-date cards, but my project was vetoed by my mom due to my lack of creativity when it comes to do-it-yourself crafty stuff
- priced out invitations at a local stationary store with my mom, found out just how expensive the damn things are
- received an invitation catalogue in the mail and found the perfect set of invitations, which happen to be one third of the cost of the original invitations
- put a deposit down on a fabulous dj that has renewed my excitement for the whole reception
- narrowed down my registry stores to two: Marshall Fields and Crate & Barrell
- found out that one of my brides maids might not be able to be in my wedding, let alone come to it at all because the guy she is dating is a complete psycho
- had nightmares about Faye ruining my wedding
- had to listen to my grandma express her concerns about how my parents haven't met Tom's parents yet; she's afraid they're going to wait too long to have dinner...
- had meeting number one with Father Connell, Tom's grandparents priest at their Catholic church; had to fill out a questionnaire in which I was repeatedly referred to as the unbaptised; he might as well have called me a heathen
House Updates
- Tom and I put an offer on the house we saw on our last trip house hunting
- we were pre-approved for enough on the loan that we could at least afford the owner's original asking price
- the lady selling the house is a total flake and has pretty much backed out of everything except for the final agreed upon price of the house
- because the lady is being relocated by her job, we now have to deal with a relocation company, which will require scads more paperwork to be signed and initialed and will drag this whole painful process out even further than it has already
- our oficially closing date is Tuesday, April 25
- the loan company is now trying to tell us that their paperwork may not be done in time for our closing, which means we might need to push everything back to Thursday
- Tom and I may have jumped the gun by purchasing all of our appliances (washer, dryer, fridge, stove) three weeks prior to close, just to capitalize on a great deal
- We may have also jumped the gun by purchasing a ridiculously large entertainment set, dining table and chair set, and sectional a week before closing without the measurements for the room...
- it only took us fiteen minutes to decide on the paint colors for three different rooms in the house
Other Updates
- my mom has become a bad influence on me by taking me to get ice cream when we should be on a diet, suggesting that we go to the casino to "unwind," and paying for me to get a manicure
- I am still not allowed to spend much time with Robert, thanks to his ridiculously insecure and emotionally abusive mother
- Tom's family still consists of a bunch of assholes, who, because I am no longer the one to say hello to them first and attempt to engage them in conversation first, now believe that I need to stop requiring the princess treatment when I'm around them and feel the need to nit pick absolutely everything about me, grammar included...because they have nothing better to do
- Tom still believes that the only reason I would ever want to attend one of Roberts school functions (musical program, soccer game, etc.) is because I want to start shit with Faye, not because I genuinely want to feel involved in Roberts life and want to support both Tom and Robert
- my mom has constantly been questioning me whether or not I still want to go through with this wedding and house with Tom after all the shit that keeps happening
- I'm still working at MC and sending out resumes like crazy to try and find another job; so far, no one is biting...
- Steph and I joined my moms gym; it took us three weeks to finally get there after we signed up; Steph has only been once, I was motivated enough to go twice
- I finally found my friend Martha's new address; she had mailed me a Christmas card two years ago telling me she was getting married; I sent her a letter to the return address, and never heard from her again; I sent a letter to the address, hoping it was her, and it was! She sent me an awesome letter back, telling me all about the things that have changed in her life over the past two years...I hope we can stay in touch this time
I'm sure I have more updates than that, but I just can't think of any for now. I'll have to go back through my calendar to see if anything else happened over the course of the past month. How are things going for everyone else? I'd love to hear from you...since I never do...
